Hi. On 8 October 2011, you redirected File:Blank-map-world-reversed.png to File:Blank-map-world-south-up.png with the summary "Redirecting to duplicate file". Actually, the latter was a duplicate of the former. Also, judging by the talk page of the original, the user who created the duplicate, may have actually created a different map. Apparently (I commented on the talk page at the time, though I don't remember), the original was a flipped map, rather than a rotated map like the duplicate. Is there anyway to restore the original? I received a dire or disturbing message here [2] to which I replied forthwith; [3] and another reply; with all due resepec, I cannot understand why after more than 101,000 edit files I upload only since February this year, 2014, I am attacked and accused of many bad things; as you see in my reply, I only not opted or chose to create 2 categories and rather placed the category in one Category as sub-category; I am accused of violating the Rules on Meta or Over-Categorization; but the accuser failed to point to me the specific provision or rule that I violated; I deny the violation, for I am faithfully adhering to the rules; the thing speaks for itself; good faith in editing is presummed; no editor or administraor has messaged me on this, but only this editor, since I started this February, 2014; It is very painful and terrifying to edit and contribute and at the same time being personally attacked; Please, with your kindness and integrity give me some protection, and if I am wrong, please help me be corrected; I chose not to use my user name but just an IP Address for reasons of security. I forthwith received in my talk page, a more dire message in this manner which I am quoting because of its importance and I underscore it, to wit: ::::* Sorry xxx I have given up on xxx He just does his own thing, thinking that his pictures will make "Commons a better place for researchers", "a wiser tool of knowledge for the future" and "benefit in the future". Obviously he is thinking way too much of himself and his pictures! But really, he is using Commons as his personal storage device. We have told him many times to be selective, to categorize properly, even to add better descriptions. Even after pointing out the problem, he still doesn't go back to his uploads to correct them, but leaves it to others to clean up after him. That shows that either he doesn't understand English, or he is too arrogant to care. We should just dump all his pictures in a special category like Category:Photographs by Ramon F Velasquez or Category:Photographs by Judge floro, and there nobody will be able to find them or make sense of the mess... [4];

Will all my 101,000 files [5] since February 2014, disappear

And does User: P199 which, as is shown the other account or alternate of User:Briar fallen, have the power, administrative or otherwise, to delete all my 101,000 photos and dump them in hidden category as these Users P 199 and Briar fallen decide to dump in ""a special category like Category: Photographs by Ramon F Velasquez or Category: Photographs by Judge floro, and there nobody will be able to find them or make sense of the mess... as they proclaimed, announced and stated? Hence, all my photos are rendered nugatory, hidden and can no longer be found in Commons and Wikipedia, is this for real? Ich habe ein zweites Konto beste Turelio instant Rute unter dem Benutzernamen, dass mehr auf Ihr erklärt habe ich erstellt. Ich bin so Peter van der Sluijs. ich nur die Grundausbildung Fotograf. also abgeschlossen haben ich verbessert Dateien hochgeladen haben. Ich habe viele besondere Fotos mit Wikipedia von dort teilen möchtest. Verständnis für Menschen zustimmen, die Licht und Autist wie ich sind.Wikipedia ist manchmal sehr schwierig für mich.Große Dateien hochladen möchte bleiben. Großen Einsatz von Übersetzungs-Tools durch den Computer damit zu machen

Dealing with a problematic user

Dear Túrelio,

Hello. I am pasting a query with regard to a problematic user on my Hindi Wikipedia user talk. I need your valuable help in the matter:

issue

i would like to inform you about serious rules violation by user named User:राजु सुथार (this is his latest id).....he has created no less than 10 sock puppet ids here check user result......and you must have noticed that even after blocking his 1 id he is immediately creating a new 1......user is indulging in self advertisement, spamming, vandalism of pages and uploading of self pictures and family member's picture here.........and recently he is being found uploading self pictures on commons, 1 of which was deleted earlier can see discussion by clicking here and the account from which he uploaded the picture was blocked on commons click here, but again he uploaded his picture on commons this time from another account which has been nominate for deletion click here

my question is....is there any way to block his access permanently from editing on wikipedia?? blocking of ip it seems is of no use because he is using dynamic ip which is changing every time......can we block him by identifying his machine mac-address??

Oppose-Hi. I am not agree with Arash.pt because If you check watermarks of the two photos [9]-[10] and compare them, you can't see any retouch in each of them. either of them are original. I think there are two possible: 1-The Association of Tehran Young Voice Actors published these photos without any watermark and then add watermark to them, but some black sites, copy it's pictures before adding watermark. 2-some bloggers, stole a few original pictures of The Association of Tehran Young Voice Actors and show them in their weblogs.

Also, quality of this picture is not better than original picture and blogger just resized original picture because if you check their hitogram, you can see a Histogram! Is this an accident?!

Any way, I can't see any convincing reason to approve that Association of Tehran Young Voice Actors, borrowed pictures of it's studio recording from a cheap website.Moghime ARAK (talk) 18:43, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I told that a blogger could steal 4 pictures of the company and publish them before piblishing by the owner. Is n't it logic? I emphasize: there are hundreds of official pictures of the company in it's gallery and Arash.pt wants us ignore them for just 4 stolen pictures?!

Until now, two admins accepted these photos ([11] and [12]) and an admin deleted the pictures had been tagged by you.(see in my talk page) Now, what is your decision?

Hello. I will research whether or not I have a right to publish these photos with my father either tonight or tomorrow. He's been helping me on wikinews, and he's better at organization and research than I am. I don't want to do it on my own because when I did things on my own on English wikipedia and simple English wikipedia I just made a bunch of mistakes, but I will address your concerns. Let me explain by parts: You said:

Hey man, came on: I wont lose my time entering to WikeMedia Commons if I had not anything to contribute. I love the concept of copyleft or free use of ideas, images, musics or anything and that can help to make a better world.

Who tells you I do not want to contribute? It's sad to see people like you, who acts like a cop blocking people like me, who is just starting at WikiMedia Commons. sorry, but I have no idea what is your account as you didn't provide your username. In addition, your likening of getting an upload to Commons deleted or getting temporarily blocked from Commons (if that really happened at all) to shooting people is completely inappropriate. The volunteers who run this project every day have to filter out and delete hundreths of either copyviolating or out-of-scope uploads. Due to the huge workload it can happen that every now and then we mistakenly delete something which contrary to our first impression wasn't a copyvio or out-of-scope. The aim of giving the link to the source was to provide authenticity to the pic. Moreover, I am still not very much clear about the licensing info on WikiCommons. I may be wrong in giving the correct kind of license to pics, so I would require your help. (talk page stalker) @TripWire: 'Own work' refers not only to the image itself, but also to the copyrightable material that it contains. When scanning an image from a book (personally) you should use {{Self-scanned}}, not own work, and then indicate the source and copyright status of the source book.

From the help page for {{own work}}:

“Use this to say that you personally created the entire original image by yourself (for example, you drew the picture on paper, you used a camera to take the photograph, you painted the picture on canvas, etc.). Do not use this tag for any images that you saw on any website, downloaded from any source, scanned from a book, newspaper, or magazine, or copied from anything.”

'Work', in the sense we use it, does not refer to the 'labor involved' in making the image, but to the 'copyrightable work' that is being discussed. Revent (talk) 01:21, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Categories Herrenchiemsee und Frauenchiemsee

Hallo Túrelio, die Liste der Orte im Landkreis Rosenheim sagt zu diesem Thema: "Die Gemeinde Chiemsee mit zwei Gemeindeteilen. Das Kirchdorf Frauenchiemsee (Insel). Das Staatsgut Herrenchiemsee (Insel)." Ich würde gerne wissen, weshalb Du Dich entschlossen hast, diese beiden Gemeindeteile zu löschen. Die Änderungen von Herrenchiemsee zu Herreninsel und Frauenchiemsee zu Fraueninsel, die der User ColdCut zuvor vorgenommen hat, sind unkorrekt. Die Bezeichnungen sind lediglich umgangssprachlich im Gebrauch. Welche Möglichkeit gibt es, diese vielen Änderungen auf einen Schlag rückgängig zu machen? Freundliche Grüße --I. das beruhte nicht auf einer eigenen "Überlegung". Vielmehr waren beide Kat. leer und dementsprechend von User:ColdCut mit "speedy da leere Kat." markiert. Diese SLAs habe ich ausgeführt. Wie ich jetzt ermittelt habe, hatte User:ColdCut beide ursprüngliche Kat. verschoben mit der Angabe

• "Category:Frauenchiemsee nach Category:Fraueninsel (korrekte Bezeichnung)"
• "Category:Herrenchiemsee nach Category:Herreninsel (korrekte Bezeichnung)"

Zunächst solltest du User:ColdCut auf das Problem hinweisen. Ich vermute, dass er trotz des Namens deutsch spricht. Ich gehe davon aus, dass das seinerseits kein absichtlicher Vandalismus, sondern vielleicht eine Fehleinschätzung war. Hallo Turelio. Ich bin schon seit fast zwei Wochen mit MetaCats beschäftigt, eigentlich nur was Architektur und Kunst betrifft, aber wenn man den verschiedenen Categorien by something nachfolgt bis in jeden letzten Ast, dann kommt man bald ins Unendliche. Was ich tue, ich füge den korrekten MetaCat Template bei, denen Kategorien die ihn nicht haben (also ich ergänze die relativen Flat Lists); ich ergänze oder korrigiere die MetaCat Template die es benötigen (z.B. wenn eine Categorie by city ist und nur {{MetaCat}} oder {{MetaCat|style}} zeigt, dann wird das eben in {{MetaCat|city}} saniert). Nun was ich so bemerkt habe, es gibt viele spezifische MetaCats die aber nur in die generelle MetaCat Flat List enden, weil der Template:ByCat nicht mehr auf den neusten Stand gebracht worden ist. Könntest du mir da helfen? Denn leider habe ich nicht genügend Erlaubniss um es selber zu erledigen. Meine Vorschläge wären: association = institution / collection = institution / diocese = institution / religion = institution / medallist = creator / writer = creator / christian saint = saint / millennium = era / municipality = city / production area = location / media = type / content = subject. Wenn du das machen könntest, das wäre eine grosse Hilfe für mich, und ich wäre dir sehr dankbar. Vor vielen Jahren habe ich / wir gut gearbeitet auf MetaCats als Rocket000 noch aktiv war. Seit dem er nicht mehr tätig ist, habe ich das Gefühl dass die MetaCats total verlassen worden sind. Oder täusche ich mich? Sicher, was ich so sehe, es hat überall tausende von Categorien die den Template nicht besitzen. Für die maintenance ein grosses Handicap, besonders wenn man dann auf den Flat Lists arbeiten möchte um die verschiedenen Categorien zu ergänzen (was ich zum Teil schon begonnen habe...). Trying to understand a FOP in Costa Rica case

I know that this happened a VERY VERY long time ago, but since you were part of the "kept" image in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Museo del Oro Entrada.JPG and I was wanting to understand FOP better. A few of my images have unintentionally run into FOP issues in the past. I have always just let them be deleted without augment, as I don't understand where the line is drawn when it comes to building? When dose a building not have "enough originality" as you say to not be copyrightable and kept, like in this case. I've attempted to understand this issue by reading commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Photographs_of_buildings and other parts of that page, but I'm just more confused. Sometimes I think you need to be a lawyer to understand these pages.

For example: I once had an image of a LDS temple located in French Polynesia (if french FOP) that look just like this one in the US, where FOP isn't an issue for building. Why is a building like this copyrightable, but not Museo del Oro Entrada.JPG. They look to me like commercial logos (possible copyright violations) so maybe candidates for speedy deletion(?). I have little experience with this sort of thing but I noticed that you are an Admin here and have previously dealt with similar files uploaded by User:Arise sajin. (While looking into this I also found reports that "Arise Networking" may be some kind of "work from home" internet scam.)

File:Cell-phone-brain.jpg may also be a copyright violation as it contains a watermark / link at the bottom of the image.

No existe por ello ningún conflicto de derecho de autor sobre esa fotografía.

Look, I did not delete any of your uploads. If I had tagged them for deletion, they were deleted by my colleagues. So, at least 2 admins had an eye on them.

• File:Panourgias Eliopoulos 1787-1865.jpg is surely not your own work and also not by the book author I.PAPACHRISTOU. Who created the original painting or whathever it is)?
• File:Universe door-wide.jpg had been found prepublished.
• File:Athina city.jpg had been found prepublished.
• File:ILIOPOULOS LITHOGRAFIA2.jpg and File:ILIOPOULOS LITHOGRAFIA NEW.jpg is hardly own work. What is the true source? Who created the original drawing?

DSHA picture of Centennial and

However, this picture was uploaded from a publication that does not have copyright, was written and edited by myself, Angela Pienkos, and the picture itself was taken with my own camera and supplied for use in the booklet. The booklet was handed out free of charge to all attendees of the Centennial Celebration held in 1992. The cover of the booklet reads: Divine Savior Holy Angels. Exemplary Education for Young Women. Löschanträge im allgemeinen und aktuell Parisaltar

Hallo, Túrelio! Im April 2015 hattest du mir anläßlich einer Löschgefährdung (Maria Pirwitz) die allgemeinen Hintergründe zur Panorama(un)freiheit dargelegt. Wie elementar niedergemacht - in Abhängigkeit von der persönlichen Vorgeschichte - man sich allein angesichts der einschüchternden Optik der dominanten rotbetonten Warngrafik fühlt, habe ich reaktiv (später nochmals an anderer Stelle) in allen Stadien selbst durchlebt: ungläubig wie gelähmt, tsunamiartig machtlos zu Boden geschleudert, auf jeden Fall nachhaltig verunsichert und vertrauensgemindert. Auch bei mir explodierte der Wortschatz unerwartet ausfallend, blieb aber im "stillen Kämmerlein" stecken. Schließlich einzig fühlbarer Ausweg: sich trotzig auf dem Absatz für immer abzuwenden. Irgendwann findet man dann doch wieder einigermaßen zurück, was auch im gegenwärtigen Fall wirklich sehr und recht bald zu hoffen ist!

Um dem schlechten Beigeschmack eines möglicherweise denunzierungsartigen Missbrauchs zu begegnen, möchte ich mal folgenden Änderungsvorschlag zur Diskussion stellen: Bei zweifelhaften Innenaufnahmen im Sinne der Wikipedia-Prinzipien einen für-/vorsorglichen Warnhinweis anbringen, ähnlich wie bei Google Bilder, z. B.:

"Das Bild ist möglicherweise urheberrechtlich geschützt. Es empfiehlt sich, für weitere Informationen gegebenenfalls den Urheberberechtigten zu kontaktieren."

Dann könnten viele wertvolle Innenaufnahmen bei Commons bestehen bleiben bzw. neu Zugang finden, um betrachtend-forschende User bei ihren Detailinterpretationen zu unterstützen. --Vitavia (talk) 09:14, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi William,

the problem with album covers is that their content is usually above threshold of originality and thereby copyrighted either with the artist or the record company. So, you need their permission to upload an album cover image to Commons. That's even the case if you bought the album; you are not allowed to reproduce the cover image and distribute it to the public. I was given permission by the copyright holder (the artist Jan Vanriet) to upload and use all these images in his wikipedia article, but appropriate permission was not sent to OTRS originally. The artist has now emailed OTRS agreeing to publish all the above images under the free license Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International. I have also forwarded our email correspondence to prove this, and edited the file descriptions with the new licenses. Both of these emails were sent on December 8th but I have heard nothing since to suggest that these images are no longer marked for possible deletion. Hi Ljs90, now nearly all these file are tagged with OTRS-pending, which should prevent a premature deletion. However, some files carry a copyright-notice in their EXIF data, see above. Vanriet cannot simply claim them as "own work". Also, the image of Vanriet with the king of Belgium is surely not his own work. Finally, the following 2 images you did claim as "own work", but they carry a copyright-notice by Dominique Provost. Please explain.

I don't really understand your question. Any image which is not truly your own work, needs a permission, a license. So, if you find an image on Flickr, Panoramio, or whereever, which has been credibly released under a free license, which is also compatible with our licensing-policy (CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, FAL, GFDL), you can copy it to Commons.

It gets more complicated when the image which you want to transfer, is not fully the own work of the person who offers it under a free license. This is the case when somebody offers a photo of a painting (not by the painter) or any other work of art, which is not already very old. Then on needs also the permission of the original artist. In case of screenshot from games, you may have 2 copyrights; but more important is the copyright of the original creator/developer of the game. --Túrelio (talk) 15:28, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Hallo Túrelio

Jermboy entwickelt zur Zeit wieder ungeahnte Energien. Ich habe den ja schon mit gefälschten Verkehrszeichen (seine Leidenschaft) seit Jahren am Knie. Danke für die schnelle Reaktion. Leider kann ich so meinen neuen Artikel zu den DDR-Verkehrszeichen nur sehr langsam vorantreiben, da ich durch Jermboy vielfach hier gebunden werde und nun wirklich keinen Bock habe den ganzen Tag am Rechner zuzubringen, zumal es ja noch das RL gibt. Leider mußte ich auch meinen Artikel zu den DDR-Verkehrszeichen vorzeitig aus meinem Namensraum in den Artikelbereich bringen, da mich auch da Jermboy schon störte. Und ich hatte Angst daß mir das passiert, was dereinst schon der unsägliche Benutzer Korrekturen einst gemacht hat. Der hat nämlich auch Artikel angelegt, die andere schon in Vorbereitung hatten. Das hat er bei mir auch mal gemacht. So steht er nun als Artikelbegründer in den Analen, obwohl er nur einen winzigen Stub produzierte. Das war sehr ärgerlich. Yes, it says similar distinctive symbol belonging to an international or "recognized" organization. As many previous DR resolved as kept, footbaal clubs are considered as a recognized organization, therefore, the license apply. The Ley Federal de Derecho de autor of Mexico is more specific:

Artículo 14.- No son objeto de la protección como derecho de autor a que se refiere esta Ley:
(...)
VIII. Las reproducciones o imitaciones, sin autorización, de escudos, banderas o emblemas de cualquier país,
      estado, municipio o división política equivalente, ni las denominaciones, siglas, símbolos o emblemas
      de organizaciones internacionales gubernamentales, no gubernamentales, o de cualquier otra organización
      reconocida oficialmente, así como la designación verbal de los mismos;

Notice that between no gubernamentales and o de cualquier otra organización is a comma (,), that indicates that no gubernamentales and o de cualquier otra organización are separaetd items, therefore, the recognized organizations (like football clubs) are part of the Art. 14 of the Federal Law; in other words, any logo of recognized organizations are not protected (and there is a precendet with other DRs resolved as kept). As I am not a native en-speaker, I don't understand your likely figure of speech "nice bridge for sale". Anyway, you are correct that a confirmation might be appropriate in this situation. However, the overall situation in this case makes the claim rather likely. The typical :de-user would hardly disclose his/her realname on-wiki. The typical en user doesn't disclose their real identity that easily either (I for one...) I realize that creates a conflict here, but I don't think we can accept the claim from an anonymous user that they have the copyright and can give it away. If they had only said "own work", it would perhaps have been different, but they give the name of the photographer and that is different from the user name, so I think more proof is needed, which they can submit to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. As for the bridge, that refers to a classical scam where some crook would try to sell a public bridge to some gullible immigrant to the US. It's used when you think someone is being naive in accepting someone's claim :-) Just google "selling someone a bridge" and look at some of those examples. The case has developped, in that the artist has sent a permission-statement to OTRS (or actually to the WMF) and has put dropbox-link on her/his talkpage. Speedy deletion of my photos

Hi! First of all, the author of the photos and me, is one and only person :) Secondly, it's not only that photo, but almost all of the photos I've uploaded for competition purposes only. These photos, since last week, are used for commercial reasons in a photography page, so I guess it's not allowed to have them here for free anymore. That way or another, they went unnoticed, so they won't be missed really ;) If anyone used them/downloaded them in between with the previous CC license, there is no problem by me. Unfortunately, it seems the tenor and demeanor of certain respondents to the debate has severely degraded in civility, with ad hominems spread liberally around a bit.

Most of the summary of the DIFFs have been helpfully supplied by Winkelvi, who reported the major problems at Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#Civility_and_tone.

Maybe you could have a look, and take action if you think it's necessary ?

size_not_found

Hi, I see you are actively uploading failed uploads. I'm happy that you are taking care of these, but if you find it annoying to do, it may be more efficient if we let a backlog build up and then get a bot task to sort them out. As Flickr or WMF server failures may underpin these failures, they are not going away soon, but it would help if the need were large enough to raise Phabricator tasks for it, or at least become a priority for my volunteer time to set something up with Faebot.

Note that size_not_found would be an easy fix, but partly uploaded failures are more problematic as SHA1 values are not supplied by the Flickr API. This would mean human detection, say by adding failures to a category for re-upload. Anyway, ponder it, there no hurry as if I do need to look at it, it would not be overnight. --Fæ (talk) 11:30, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

You mean, how to legitimately upload it to Commons? Only after obtaining a general permission by the creator or rights holder of the cover artwork. Danke für deine Mühen, dass Problem liegt aber an den wechselnden Accounts...

Es ist hierbei ziemlich sicher, dass es sich hierbei um Jemanden handelt der die original-Dateien besitzt aber nicht selbst der Fotograf ist... u.a. wurden in den EXIF-Daten unterschiedliche Fotografen angegeben... Und wie vermag man diesem Uploader zu erklären die Urheberrechte zu beachten?

Well, yes. It's a photo of a wood fire, such as is File:Plameny.jpg. Not every image which is uploaded to Commons needs immediately to be used on a (Wikimedia) project. My image File:FunkenflugGrill 9647b.jpg has few on-wiki uses, but many external re-uses. As shown by the TimedText pages, these contain no text and need to be deleted. I've deleted quite a number of TT pages before. They themselves had been clearly tagged for speedy deletion. Though they didn't show the regular template-message, they were included in the speedy-deletion-cat and contained some deletion-rationale. As I hadn't tagged them by myself, I don't know how the tagging had been achieved. Nevertheless, it was clear and didn't require mindreading of the nominator. I was not looking for you to read my mind, I was expecting common sense. I'd expect that any admin would review the history of the talk, realize that it was created for the purpose of tagging for deletion, and then review the main page. Or, if the admin did not understand, they should contact the nominator. Template NoUploads on Category:Thijs Trompert

Dear Turelio,

In 2013 you put the template {{NoUploads}} on this category of Dutch scuptures in Dutch settings, warning for use. But according to the Dutch copyright law Auteurswet 1912 article 18, artworks intended for public spaces, can freely be photographed in their public locality without copyright protection for the artist. In the US apparently the same rule applies, compare for example Category:Cloud_Gate, the mirror egg in Chicago. As an exception, this "freedom of panorama" does not hold in Belgium, if i'm right.

• So can the warning on Category:Thijs Trompert be removed?

due to a Wikipause my reply comes late. Hmm, the template (at least the German translation) does actually mention the freedom-of-panorama exception. This template should be used in every category for artists, whose works are still in copyright. The idea is to motivate uploaders to think, can this image be uploaded or not, is there a valid exception? For example, if a work of the said artist is installed in Belgium, there would be no freedom-of-panorama exception. However, if there is no "warning" and there are already other images of such works, a new uploader might be mislead to think, everything is fine and I can upload it. --Túrelio (talk) 20:23, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. Now i am late. As Thijs Trompert is a Dutch artist and his sculptures are in Dutch public space, i still would like to have this stern warning {{NoUploads}} - it really is in the Dutch version and is perceived to be so - removed, because it bothers people in Amersfoort, Trompert's home town with many of his sculptures in public space. The situation according to copyright law is just the other way around: we are in general free to upload images of art in public space so it should read OkUploads. This warning is unusual on Commons. We are not in Belgium, which is an exception not mentioned in the Dutch version (it appears these weeks a law will be passed in Belgium to give Belgium freedom of panorama). So this intimidating warning really does not belong there. I give you the phrasing in bad Dutch, which you hopefully will be able to understand as standard German is an Eastern Dutch dialect ;-)

Deze werken of werken van deze auteur kunnen mogelijk zich niet in het publiek domein bevinden, omdat de auteur nog niet 70 jaar dood is. Upload geen foto's of scans van werken van deze auteur, tenzij ze voldoen aan een van de volgende uitzonderingen:

    Het werk werd eerst gepubliceerd in de Verenigde Staten en een van de publiek domein-tags van de Verenigde Staten is hier van toepassing;
    Het werk is toegestaan door een wettelijke uitzondering zoals vrijheid van panorama of de minimis;

VFC for deletions

I'm concerned that recent deletions have not left transclusions in a good state. For example File:Air Line bridge (NYPL b11707669-G90F061 008F).tiff has a gallery with a blank thumbnail where the reverse of the stereogram used to be. Note that adverts, unusual franks and descriptions are relevant to keep for the stereograms, which are all archived at the NYPL with both sides scanned for this reason. I was not complaining about the deletion (and Choess added it to the mostly blank category, keep in mind that mostly blank does not mean automatic deletion), but pointing out that transclusions should be fixed if there are deletions. Not being an admin, I have no idea if there are processes that can handle that better, I've not investigated. --Fæ (talk) 19:19, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Anyway, if specific of these (nearly) "blank" files are in this special kind of use (and should remain so), the easiest solution to avoid problems would be to remove them from or not put them into that category. Deletion of photo

this was more than 1 month ago! Anyway, the image File:Bob wise 01.png had been sourced by the uploader to http://all4ed.org/people/bob-wise/. However, this site/article is licensed under a a CC-BY-NC-ND license, which is not allowed on Commons. Our policy COM:L requires uploads to be free for commercial use and the creation of derivatives. puh, das ist aber lange her. Ich muss gestehen, dass ich seitdem mit dem Thema eigentlich keine Berührung mehr hatte. Gerade habe ich entdeckt, dass es noch einen 2. Hinweisbaustein gibt, siehe in Category:Villa Marioni Pullè, wobei mir unklar ist, ob die nicht redundant sind. Andererseits sagt der 2./untere Baustein relativ klar, das er sich letztlich nur an italienische Nutzer richtet. Insofern ähnelt er der Einschränkung, die du damals hinzugefügt hattest. Du könntest ggf. mal auf Commons:Bar italiano nachfragen, wie die ital. Nutzer das einschätzen. Ansonsten stehe ich weiterhin zu meiner damaligen "Mahnung" zur Vorsicht mit juristischen Aussagen, wegen eines zumindest denkbaren Haftungsrisikos im worst case. Nicht nur die deutsche community war bislang ja davon überzeugt, es gebe kein "Recht am Bild der eigenen Sache". Hi Turelio, the museum specifically authorized for WLM "the works of art" to be photographed, so as long as ALL the painters there are modern, it will be under their responsibility. I personally saw the authorization, including the modern paintings. You can ask for a copy at the WLM organizers. Regrettably, yes. See [25], de:Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen#Fotos_durch_Besucher and File:Landgericht Stuttgart, Urteil vom 27. September 2016, Az. 17 O 690-15 (anonymisiert).pdf. They did object mainly against the permission for commercial use. So far, it was only one group of museums in Mannheim. I tried uploading a photo of Jim Labb and was told that I did not have permission. I emailed his representation asking for an updated photo and they emailed me back the photo. How can I prove this?

you need to forward the mail to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org . However, the permission needs to contain a clear statement 1) about the authorship and 2) needs to mention the choosen license. I didn't delete it, but I tagged it as suspicious of copyvio. You declared it by yourself as "screenshottata da un video". Making a screenshot from a video, which has been made by somebody else, does not give you any own copyright. Ark

Hallo Túrelio, kannst du mal die Geschichte gelöschter Versionen von dieser Datei anschauen? Da hat irgendjemand 2014 etwas unter diesem Namen hochgeladen, jemand anderes hat es dann nach File:Ark and Torah in the library of Congregation B’nai Tikvah (Deerfield, Illinois).jpg verschoben, und seither ist es eine Weiterleitung. Eingebunden ist es in zahlreichen Artikeln der russischen Wikipedia, z.B. ru:Арк (Бухара), da geht es aber um ein ganz anderes Ark, nämlich die Zitadelle von Buchara. Das Bild war da schon in der Artikelversion von 2006 enthalten. Ich vermute, dass das Originalbild irgendwie beim Überschreiben/Verschieben verlorengegangen ist. Kannst du das mal nachprüfen? das ursprünglich als Ark.jpg im Jahre 2006 hochgeladene Foto war wohl eine Album cover und wurde wegen URV-Verdacht (und weil es ungenutzt war) gelöscht. Du kannst es in dieser Googlesuche sehen. Das ist jedenfalls nicht die von dir erwähnte Zitadelle. In der Versionsgeschichte von Ark.jpg sehe ich nur diese eine Version. Die heutige Bildversion (diese Bibliothek) wurde erst 2014 als Ark.jpg von User:JenJ17 hochgeladen. --Túrelio (talk) 19:52, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

Deleted photo

Hi, Turélio.

I would like,if I may, to ask for your help. I need a photo that was deleted, in my opinion without any valid reason. It was an important photo, I believe. It showed a tiny statue of the Virgin Mary with Jesus child on her lap in a small countryside, makeshift temple in Japan.  Next to it there was the statue of Buddhist god Jizō. Both Jesus and Jizō wore a red woolen hat. This was an important photo and Wikipedia  was lucky to have it. If you want I can explain why it was important. In any event, somebody ignorantly deleted it. It was probably deleted a long time ago, but I noticed only today because I need it for a book I am writing. It was a unique photo, impossible to replace. And of course I have lost it. Hi Orchi, ja, es sieht so aus. Andy king50 hat das in seinem Kommentar auf :de ja bereits ausgedrückt. Für Commons (und seine Nachnutzer) sind die Dateien eher wertlos, auch wegen der geringen Auflösung. Ich vermute, dass der Artikel de:Stiftung zum Schutz von Landschaft und Natur in der Südpfalz bleiben wird, oder ist er ein klarer Löschkandidat? Im letzteren Fall würden sich die Bilder ohnehin erledigen. Im ersteren können wir m.E. noch abwarten bis der Artikel stabil ist, um dann zu sehen, welches der Bilder darin gebraucht wird. Die restlichen könnten dann gelöscht werden. Hinzu kommt, dass die Urheberrechtslage unklar ist, da "Heidi Weibel" als Urheber angegeben ist, sie aber von "Webmaster Stiftung" hochgeladen wurden. --Túrelio (talk) 20:15, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

ich bin da keinen mm weniger ahnungslos als du (dich fühlst) :-) .

Was habe nun gemacht: 1) ich habe über das im obigen Posting enthaltene Link meine common.js aufgerufen und mir deren kurze Versionsgeschichte angeschaut. Im letzten Edit hatte ich tatsächlich irgendwelche Code (den ich mit Sicherheit von jemand anders erhalten hatte, da ich nichts davon verstehe) eingefügt, der den string "VisualFileChange" enthielt, worauf sich vermutlich die obigen Nachricht zu VFC bezieht. Deshalb habe ich diesen eigenen Edit einfach rückgängig gemacht. 2) dann habe ich das 2. Link aus obigem Posting aufgerufen, woraufhin ein Pop-Up-Fenster erschien, das mich fragte, ob ich das erwähnte Gadget aktivieren möchte, was ich bejaht habe. Und das scheint schon alles gewesen zu sein. Jedenfalls hoffe ich, dass Commons nicht infolge meiner beiden Edits explodiert. Früher hätte man bei solchen Fragen kompetente Auskunft von unserem Java-Experten User:Rillke erhalten, der aber leider nicht mehr unter uns weilt. --Túrelio (talk) 18:50, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Túrelio. Would you mind taking another look at User talk:CO16. This editor continues to upload copyright violations despite being notified not to do so a number of times, and even after having been blocked a week by you. The editor's pattern seems to be the same on Commons as it is on English Wikipedia: blanking their user talk page, but not correcting their behavior. The lastest upload by this editor is File:Take Heart Album.jpg which is claimed as "own work". I've added {{End of copyvios}} to their user talk, but experience on English Wikipedia is that warnings such as this do not seem to have any effect. Just for reference, the album cover has been uploaded to English Wikipedia as en:File:The Sam Willows Take Heart Album Cover Art.jpg by a different editor and tagged with en:Template:OTRS pending. If OTRS verifies the Wikipedia version, then the Commons version could possibly be undeleted per COM:DRV, right?

also, beim 2. und 3. Foto fand ich kaum Ähnlichkeit mit den externen Bildern. Beim 1. Foto musste ich deutlich länger hinschauen. Letztlich war die Faltung des oberen Rands der Blüte für mich ausschlaggebend, dass es nicht dasselbe Foto ist. --Túrelio (talk) 16:00, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

User:Jcb lässt offensichtlich einen Bot laufen, der Artikel löscht.
Einige Artikel sind schon von anderen Admins wiederhergestellt. Ich fürchte, User:Jcb vernichtet die gesamte Taxonomie der monotypischen Gattungen und deren internationale Verlinkung. Auch scheinen Artikel, für die es besonders schwierig ist, auch nur ein einziges Bild zu finden, scheinen ihm zum Opfer zu fallen.
Ich wäre Dir dankbar, wenn Du mir in dieser Angelegenheit helfen könntest. (Ich habe noch viele Bilder) ;-)
